The very rich Dutch are getting richer, says Quote magazine

November 5, 2015

50 euro notes moneyThe richest 500 Dutch people saw their collective assets rise more than 10% last year, according to the latest edition of the Quote magazine rich list.

Top of the list is again Frits Goldschmeding, founder of the Randstad staffing agency, whose worth has gone up from €3.2bn to €4.7bn, the magazine says. This is largely due to the value of his shares in Randstad itself.

Second remains Dik Wessels, who made his money in construction and who is said to be worth €3bn. Media magnate John de Mol is third, with assets of €2.5bn.

Together, the 500 richest Dutch people are worth almost €92bn, Quote calculates.

According to the Volkskrant, other notables on the list include theatre impresario Joop van den Ende (€1.5bn), DJ Tiësto (€83m), former prime minister Ruud Lubbers (€64m) and football players Dennis Bergkamp and Ruud van Nistelrooij who are both said to be worth €45m.

Charlene de Carvalho, daughter of beer magnate Freddy Heineken, remains the richest Dutch national living abroad. Her fortune is said to total some €9.6bn.
