The Netherlands bottom of the class for EU energy efficiency targets
The Netherlands is one of the worst performers in Europe in terms of reducing greenhouse gases and improving energy efficiency, according to a new progress report from the European Environmental Agency.
The Netherlands and Luxembourg are the only two out of all 28 member states to be trailing in two out of the three key areas, the EEA report shows.
The Netherlands is not on track to meet renewable energy and energy efficiency targets but is likely to meet the threshold for reducing greenhouse gases, the EEA says.
In total 13 of the 28 member states are likely to meet all three targets, compared with just nine during last year’s progress report.
