Queen Máxima cuts short China trip, heads for hospital with kidney infection
Queen Máxima is returning to the Netherlands from China on Tuesday night and will be admitted to the Bronovo hospital in The Hague, the state information service said on Tuesday.
The queen was diagnosed with a kidney infection on the second day of the visit and was forced to cancel her engagements. Despite taking medication, the queen is still suffering from back pain and a fever and will therefore be admitted to hospital, the RVD said.
King Willem-Alexander will remain in China and complete the rest of the planned visits. On Tuesday morning he was in Shanghai where he met members of the Dutch community.
