MPs call for 130 kph limit on confusing A2 motorway
The A2 motorway between Amsterdam and Utrecht should have a maximum speed limit of 130 kph across its entire distance, MPs from the ruling coalition say.
Currently, there are so many different speed limits in operation along the road that motorists become confused about how fast they are allowed to drive, MPs say.
In addition, different speed limits operate at night, adding to complexity.
Parts of the road through open countryside have a 100 kph limit which is ‘without doubt a major annoyance for every driver,’ VVD parliamentarian Barbara Visser said.
The issue will be raised during a debate on the infrastructure ministry’s 2016 spending plans later on Wednesday.
