First the A2, now the A4 may get 130 kph maximum
The A4 to The Hague should also be given an overall speed limit of 130 kph, according to infrastructure minister Melanie Schultz, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.
Earlier MPs from the VVD made a plea for the speed limit to be increased on the A2 to Utrecht where the current limits range from 80 to 130kph.
The minister first plans to assess what needs to be done to put up the maximum speed limits. MPs had earlier voted against extra spending on noise dampening technology but this could be overturned by the coalition partners, the Telegraaf points out.
Environmental groups have reacted angrily to the coalition’s support for higher speed limits, saying greenhouse gas emissions will increase as well as noise nuisance.
