New director for Dutch Centre for Information and Documentation on Israel

Stained-glass window in the Jewish Synagogue in Enschede, NetherlandsThe Dutch Centre for Information and Documentation on Israel (Cidi) on Wednesday appointed a new director.

Hanna Luden will take over the position vacated by Esther Voet on September 1.

The 57-year-old Luden, who was born in Israel, is currently an IT consultant. She moved to the Netherlands when she was 27 and has been politically active for the Labour party.

Four years ago she was appointed chairman of the Netherlands-Israel Association.

Luden says she wants to foster ‘a clear discussion’ about Israel. ‘We cannot have someone wearing a keppel in Amsterdam being attacked because of the Israeli policy on settlements,’ she said in a statement.

Voet left Cidi on June 1 following ‘a difference of opinion on the new strategic course’.
