Police in Almere are investigating an incident in which an officer on a motorbike handcuffed a 13-year-old boy to his bike and made him run alongside.

The incident happened on Sunday evening in the centre of Almere after the boy twice gave a false identity, Dutch media report.

It was filmed by a passer-by and the film was uploaded to Facebook where it has been viewed over 200,000 times.

A police spokesman told local broadcaster Omroep Flevoland that the officer has been spoken to about his behaviour.

An investigation has now been instigated and the officer has been temporarily moved to a desk job.
