Former NS boss complains to bar association

July 10, 2015

Timo HugesThe lawyer of former railway company chief Timo Huges has brought a complaint before the Dutch bar association against NS lawyer Martijn Snoep, the NRC reports on Friday.

Mark Keuss accuses Snoep of jumping the gun in an interview he gave to the Financieele Dagblad on June 30. Snoep commented on the conclusion of an investigation that has not yet been finalised or publicised, Keuss told the NRC.

Keuss says his client is suffering from the damage caused by Snoep’s comments.

Huges stepped down as NS chief on June 5 after he and other senior officials had been summoned by finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem to explain why a tender to provide public transport services in Limburg went so wrong.

Involvement

He resigned after the NS said ‘new facts’ showed he had given an ‘incorrect and incomplete’ statement about his involvement in passing on confidential information to an NS subsidiary during the tender process involving NS subsidiaries Abellio and Qbuzz.

According to the Telegraaf, leaked emails show those in the know include Huges, a fact which he had earlier denied.

The case is now under investigation.
