One in 10 trains late in 2015 first quarter

June 26, 2015

Aerial view of Dutch train at a bridge crossing a canalOne in 10 trains arrived late in the first three months of this year, according to figures from a website which monitors train performance.

Syntus, which runs regional train services in Gelderland, Overijssel and Twente was the most punctual service, website Spoormonitor.nl said. Almost 98% of the trains run by the French company arrived on time.

The worst performer was Deutsche Bahn, but this was due to strike action in Germany, which meant fewer than 69% of trains were on time, the website said.

The worst service was the NS sprinter train between Bunnik and Breukelen. Only 43% of trains operating between the two towns were on time.
