Amsterdam council orders house sealed up after drugs find
Amsterdam city council has given the order for a private house in the Amsterdam suburb of Osdorp to be sealed up after it was used to store drugs.
The house was one of several properties raided by police across the capital in June. Officials found a quantity of heroin, cocaine and 77,782 MDMA pills in the property.
It is extremely rare for the council to order a property to be sealed up, but the volume of drugs found merited such action, the council said.
The house will be closed for three months and then officials will decide if it can be re-opened. The landlord will ultimately decide who should be allowed to rent the property.
The council also ordered the closure of cafe The Challenger on the Jan Evertstraat in the district of West. That closure was ordered because a large quantity of marijuana, cannabis and hundreds of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes was found on the premises during the same raids.
