Several people were stuck upside down 30 metres above the ground for 45 minutes on Sunday when a fairground attraction got stuck.

The incident happened in the town of Didam, some 13 km east of Arnhem, during a Liberation Day fair.

The fire brigade were called to try to release the group, which included several teenagers. All seven were taken to hospital for checks.

One eyewitness told broadcaster Nos there had been problems with the funfair attraction earlier in the week. The safety inspectorate are investigating.
