The number of foreign tourists visiting the Netherlands was up 10% last year at almost 14 million, the Dutch tourist board said on Tuesday.
The biggest increase – 18% – came from visitors from China. In total, over 250,000 Chinese holidaymakers came to the Netherlands in 2014.
Germany still accounts for most tourists – almost four million in total. The number of British visitors rose by 11% to 1.9 million. Belgium was in third place.
Almost one million tourists came from America, a rise of 6% on 2013. They were attracted by the cheaper euro, the tourist board said. The number of Russian tourists, by contrast, was down 6% to 190,000.
