Amsterdam football club Ajax assured themselves of a place in the knock-out rounds of the Europa League on Wednesday night with a 4-0 win over Apoel of Nicosia.
The win, Ajax’ first in the Champions League group stage, was enough to put the Amsterdammers in third place and give them a guaranteed ticket into the Europa League. FC Barcelona won the group with Paris Saint-Germain in second place.
The win means there will be three Dutch clubs in the knock-out stage of the Europa League. PSV and Feyenoord already qualified in their groups. The Eindhoven side meet group E leaders Dinamo Moscow at home tonight in their final group stage match, while group G leader Feyenoord meet bottom of the pile Standard Liege away.
The draw for the round of 32 takes place on December 15 in Nyon.
