The Netherlands’ two top-ranked restaurants keep their three Michelin stars
Dutch restaurants De Librije (photo) in Zwolle and De Leest in the Overijssel village of Vaassen have retained their three stars in the latest Michelin guide.
Librije’s Zusje, a sister restaurant to the Librije, which opened in Amsterdam just six months ago, is one of three restaurants to be awarded two stars, taking the total number to 19. The ‘t Nonnetje in Harderwijk and De Lindenhof in Nuenen are the other new two-star establishments.
The Netherlands now has 79 one-star restaurants, adding five this year. Nine one-star restaurants are out of the guide, six of which have closed their doors over the past year.
Amsterdam’s Okura hotel is in the unusual position of having three restaurants with stars under its roof: Ciel Bleu (two stars), Sazanka (one star) and Yamazoto (one star).
The NRC published a series of graphics on Monday, analysing where all the 2,595 Michelin stars have been awarded in the Netherlands since 1957.
