Former union chief is top Dutch MEP earner
Former union chief turned European parliamentarian Agnes Jongerius earns more than €73,000 a year on top of her MEP’s salary, RTL news said on Monday.
Jongerius combines roles on the supervisory board of PostNL and develoment bank FMO with being an MEP. Her outside earnings are donated to the Amsterdam social history institute, as agreed ahead of this May’s European elections.
Of the 26 Dutch MEPs’ 15 say they do not have any jobs on the side, RTL said. The figures come from anti-corruption group Transparency International.
The basic salary for an MEP is almost €8,000 per month plus €4,300 in expenses and €304 a day for attending parliamentary sessions.
