2014 on target to be the warmest year in three centuries
If temperatures remain seasonally average for the rest of the year, 2014 will be the warmest year on record in the Netherlands, the KNMI weather bureau said on Wednesday.
It was warmer than average every month so far this year, apart from August, the KNMI said. If the last three months have normal temperatures, the average over the whole year will be 11.3 Celsius, fractionally above the record years of 2006 and 2007.
The Netherlands has kept formal records since 1906 but other temperature registers date back to 1706.
