The highly venomous cobra which escaped from its terrarium in the Noord Brabant village of Made has been recaptured after over 24 hours on the loose.

The yellow cobra was spotted gliding into a neighbour’s shed on Saturday morning. The man alerted the owner who then caught the snake.

Locals had been urged to keep doors and windows shut and not to allow their children to play outside because of the risk of being bitten.

The owner has decided to give the snake to a reptile sanctuary in Delft.
