Dutch national lottery under investigation for rigged draws
The state-owned national lottery Staatsloterij is under investigation by the gaming authority because of claims some draws could have been manipulated.
The Volkskrant said at the weekend the lottery offices were visited by gaming authority officials last week to discuss their investigation about possible manipulation. The investigation will centre on both the lottery and Intralot, the Greek company which manages the system, the paper says.
The national lottery generates €100m for the treasury every year.
A foundation set up to represent people who say the lottery has misled players about the likelihood of winning a prize, says all draws should be halted until the authorities have proved the draws are not being rigged.
