Dutch teens arrested after videoed attacks are placed online
Several Dutch teenagers have been arrested in recent days following three incidents in which attacks on other teens were filmed and placed online.
A 15-year-old girl caught on camera kicking and hitting a fellow school pupil in Enschede is under suspicion of attempted murder, the public prosecution department has told the press.
Four youths aged 14 were also picked up in connection with the attack but later released. The main suspect is being held in juvenile custody. All five have been suspended from school.
The mother of the victim placed the video, which was made by another girl, on Facebook. The girl and her parents had complained to the school who urged her to report the matter to the police.
In another incident in Rotterdam, a 15-year-old youth was filmed attacking a girl from behind as they walked through a park. He carried on kicking and punching her after she tried to fight back, despite his friends telling him to stop.
He, too, was arrested and is being held in juvenile detention. He was also suspended from school.

The Telegraaf has also published details of a third case which took place in May in which a youth beat another to the ground. The video was also shared by pupils on Facebook.
The victim’s parents have also made a formal complaint to the police, the Telegraaf says.
