Museum season ticket raised a record €40m last year

The Dutch museum season ticket card raised €40m last year, an increase of 30% on 2012, the Museumkaart foundation says.

The money is spent on promoting member museums and on administering the scheme.

The price of a season ticket went up €5 last year. Despite this, 18% more people bought a card and the number of museum visits made using them rose 28%.

In total, one million users made 6.4 million visits to almost 400 museums, the foundation says in its annual report. The average price of a museum ticket rose to €10.26 last year.

A museum season ticket costs €44.95 plus €4.95 in admin costs. The price is set to rise by a further €5 this July.
