2016 Giro d’Italia cycling race to start in the Netherlands
The 2016 Giro d’Italia round Italy cycling race will start in the Netherlands, Dutch media report on Monday.
Former Dutch cyclist Cees Priem has reached agreement with the organisers on behalf of Libéma Profcycling for a Dutch start, news agency ANP says. The name of the Dutch city has not yet been released and there are thought to be several candidates.
The Giro started in Amsterdam in 2010 and in Groningen in 2002.
The start of the Tour de France, known as the Grand Depart, will take place in Utrecht next year. It started in Rotterdam in 2010.
