Rijksmuseum to get giant projected Banksy in #withSyria campaign
Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum will be part of a global art project to draw attention to the situation in Syria on Thursday night.
A specially made work of art by British graffiti artist Banksy will be projected onto the building at the same time as other iconic buildings around the world, including the Eiffel tower, the Sydney Opera House and Red Square in Moscow.
The aim is to stimulate the international community to find a humanitarian solution for the conflict in Syria, which began three years ago.
Banksy has adapted his popular stencil of a girl with a heart-shaped balloon for the occasion. The projection, part of a wider project called #withsyria will take place on the Museumplein side of the Rijksmuseum from 19.30.
