The anti-EU PVV has published its manifesto for May’s European elections – a single page of text containing seven points for action.

The manifesto was sent to the Dutch media by email, without a press conference or opportunities for questions. The PVV is the first Dutch party to publish its manifesto for the May 22 vote.

The PVV currently has four MEPs in the European parliament but their leader Laurence Stassens resigned last week after Geert Wilders led supporters in an anti-Moroccan chant after last week’s local elections.

Wilders is hoping to form a parliamentary grouping with other populist and right-wing parties, including France’s Front National and Flemish far-right group Vlaams Belang after the election. To do this, he and his allies need to have at least 27 MEPs from seven different countries.

The PVV won almost 17% of the Dutch vote in the last European elections in 2009 and emerged as the second biggest party in the Netherlands, behind the Christian Democrats on 20%.

An Nos poll carried out last week again puts support for the PVV at around 17% but that was taken before the anti-Moroccan chant incident in The Hague.

The seven PVV manifest points are:

• Opt for the Netherlands
• Out of the EU, out of Europe
• Trade with the whole world
• Control of our own borders
• Control of our own money
• Follow our own economic policy
• Remain who we are

The Volkskrant points out that opting out of Europe – point number two – makes all the rest redundant.
