Feyenoord suspends captain, Fred Rutten to take over as coach
Rotterdam football club Feyenoord has suspended captain Graziano Pelle for two matches pending an investigation into his behaviour last weekend.
Pelle first ‘misbehaved’ in the tunnel after last week’s match against FC Twente and this week is said to have elbowed Ajax player Joel Veltman.
‘Pelle is a great player but his recent behaviour is inappropriate,’ technical director Martin van Geel says on the club’s website. The Dutch football association KNVB is also investigating the elbow incident.
Meanwhile, Feyenoord has announced Fred Rutten is to take over as coach next season. Rutten has signed a one-year deal with the Rotterdam club. Current coach Ronald Koeman said last month he is leaving Feyenoord at the end of this season.
