Post mortem investigation fails to find cause of ex-minister’s death

Police investigating the death of former health minister Els Borst said on Wednesday the forensic investigation has so far failed to discover what killed her.

Borst, 81, was found dead in the garage of her home on Monday evening by a friend.

The post mortem revealed Borst died of wounds to her body but it is not yet clear if they were deliberately inflicted or the result of an accident. Nor has a time of death yet been established.

Police are still examining her home and have started questioning neighbours, police spokesman Thomas Aling told Nos television.

‘We hope to complete the investigation as soon as possible but it is a tricky matter,’ Aling told the broadcaster.
