Dutch Olympics team set to be welcomed home by thousands
The Dutch Winter Olympic squad will arrive back from Sochi in Russia at Eelde airfield near Assen on Monday afternoon, and thousands of people are expected to turn out to welcome them.
This has been the most successful Winter Olympics for the Netherlands ever. The Dutch speed skaters won 24 medals, all but one in the long track events.
The Netherlands ended the competition in fifth place in the medals table, with eight gold, seven silver and nine bronze.
However, this is not the highest Dutch position ever. In 1972, the Netherlands ended the Winter Olymics in Sapporo, Japan in fourth place.
