Sperm banks warned not to comply with donor demands
Sperm banks should not agree to conditions which donors try to impose on the use of their sperm, the Dutch human rights board said on Tuesday.
There has been an increase in donors specifying their sperm should not be given to single, gay or ethnic minority women, RTL news reports. If sperm banks agree to these conditions, they themselves are discriminating against the women, the board said.
The board said the increase in requests may stem from the fact sperm donation is no longer anonymous and children have the right to know who their donor father is.
