Dutch men win debut Hockey World League competition
The Netherlands has won the first edition of the Hockey World League with a 7-2 victory over New Zealand.
The Oranje triumph means the Netherlands has won both the men’s and the women’s Hockey World Leagues. The Dutch women’s team took their title at the end of last year with a 5-1 victory over Australia.
The bronze medal went to England who beat Australia 2-1 in the play-offs for third and fourth place.
Dutch midfielder Paul Kemperman was named player of the tournament and England’s George Pinner was best keeper.
The Netherlands is hosting this year’s Hockey World Cup which takes place in The Hague in the first two weeks of June.
