Amsterdam still attracting international companies

In 2013, 115 new international companies established offices in the Amsterdam metropolitan area, according to figures presented on Tuesday by the city council’s business unit.

This is in line with figures for previous years.

Among those moving to the city last year are electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors, while fashion group PVH Europe (Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger) extended its operations.

Collectively, the 115 new companies created employment for 1,727 people, the council said in a statement.

Various international rankings indicate that Amsterdam remains a leading candidate as a location for European headquarters. In 2013, the region attracted 23 headquarters and 53 marketing and sales offices.
