Ajax, Feyenoord away fan ban remains in place
Away fans will still not be allowed to travel to the next two matches between Ajax and Feyenoord because of fears of crowd trouble, despite hopes the ban could be lifted.
The mayors of Amsterdam and Rotterdam took the decision to continue the ban after talks with the clubs, football association and police, the Parool reports.
The decision affects the cup-tie in Amsterdam in two weeks’ time and the Eredivisie match in Rotterdam on March 2. Feyenoord-Ajax clashes are regarded as a high point of the Dutch football calendar.
A five-year ban on away supporters was imposed in 2009 after a string of serious disturbances. The ban is due to be lifted in November.
