‘TV magnate John de Mol sets sights on full SBS ownership’

Television producer John de Mol has approached Finnish media group Sanoma about taking over its remaining 67% stake in SBS, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Thursday.

The FD says De Mol has offered €373m for Sanoma’s stake in the television broadcaster. The paper bases its claim on company sources.

The paper says De Mol thinks having 100% say over SBS will enable him to boost viewing figures and is therefore prepared to pay almost 25 times the company’s forecast €21m profit this year.
