Manufacturing output improves in October

Manufacturing outpit improved by 2.1% in October compared with the year-earlier period, the national statistics office said on Tuesday.

The increase could be seen across virtually all sectors. Only in the chemical industry did output remain much the same, the CBS statement said.

The electro-technical, machine and transport vehicles sectors showed an increase of 5.6% on October 2013. In the food industry the rise was 4.6%.

Manufacturing output collapsed in 2011 and recorded a further fall in 2012 and 2013. The growing productivity is one sign of a slow recovery in the economy, the CBS said.
