Doesburg wants 777 Elvis impersonators
The Gelderland town of Doesburg is looking for 777 Elvis Presley impersonators in an effort to get into the record books.
The town, with a population of just 11,000, celebrates the 777th anniversary of its founding next year and is trying to set a new record for a mass gathering of Elvis impersonators.
The record attempt is being organised by local cafe King’s Place, run by Elvis memorabilia collector Kees van Doorn.
The current record was set in Las Vegas in 2010 and involved 645 Elvises.
In order to qualify for the record, the 777 Elvis imitators must gather together in one place and sing one of his classic numbers, the Telegraaf said.
