Vodafone to invest millions in the Netherlands
Mobile phone firm Vodafone on Tuesday said it will invest €270m in its mobile and fixed networks in the Netherlands.
The extra investment will be used to roll out its 4G network and to further decrease its dependence on telecom company KPN for its offer on triple play broadband services, which cover internet, television and telephony.
The announcement was made during the presentation of the half year figures for Vodafone Nederland. These showed a 4.7% drop in turnover to €893.5m compared with the year-earlier period.
The total market shrunk 6.5% in the same period. The number of Vodafone connections dropped to just under 5.3 million.
Globally the British company saw turnover increase 1.2% to €26bn and a drop in operating profit of 8.3% to €5.7bn over the six months.
