Travel firm D-reizen takes over some bankrupt Oad branches

Travel company D-Reizen is taking over 81 Globe offices from its bankrupt competitor Oad.

The deal will secure 250 jobs. Globe, part of the Oad group which went bust earlier this month, has 140 outlets and a total workforce of 800. The takeover will expand the D-reizen network to 270.

Rescuing holidaymakers trapped by the bankruptcy and compensating people for lost holidays has cost the travel operator guarantee scheme €20m. This is the biggest compensation package in the history of the SGR fund.
