The Netherlands bids to be a host city for European football 2020

The Dutch football association has told the European football body Uefa the Netherlands ‘is available’ to the organisers of the 2020 European championships, the Volkskrant said on Wednesday.

The 2020 event will be staged in 13 different cities around Europe

Amsterdam is likely to be the Dutch candidate city. Rotterdam is not in the running after plans to build a replacement stadium for the Kuip collapsed, the Volkskrant said.

Cities have until Wednesday to submit their candidacy and the final decision will be taken in September 2014.
