Minister will not stop 3.4% train ticket price rise
Junior transport minister Wilma Mansveld will not intervene to stop Dutch railway firm NS raising fares by 3.4% next year, she told parliament on Thursday.
The rise is largely due to inflation but a proportion of it is due to the increased charge NS must pay to use the railway network from 2015.
Mansveld said the price rise is in line with agreements made between the railway firm and its sole shareholders.
