Two of the last four hunger-striking asylum seekers were put on a plane home on Thursday evening.

The two men were part of a mass hunger strike in several detention centres earlier this year. The asylum seekers were protesting at the loss of their right to stay in the Netherlands and at their treatment in the centres.

The men were put on a specially chartered flight to Guinea on the orders of junior justice minister Fred Teeven, and flown non-stop to the capital, Conakry, news programme Nieuwsuur reported.

On arrival, they were taken straight to hospital, a condition set by the judge who signed their deportation order. Both men have been on hunger strike for over 70 days and are in a seriously weak state.
