Goat cheese makers remove misleading packaging showing fields
Thirteen goat cheese and milk firms are removing misleading pictures of goats in fields from their packaging following the threat of legal action, animal rights group Wakker Dier said at the weekend.
The companies which have pledged to make changes include Bettine, Milner, Aldi and Lidl.
‘In practice, almost all non-organic goats are kept in barns all year round,’ Wakker Dier said. It launched a test case with the Advertising Standards Authority earlier this year, accusing manufacturers of misleading the public through their packaging.
