Ziggo and UPC combine their wi-fi networks
Cable companies Ziggo and UPC plan to combine their networks to create one large wi-fi network for their customers.
‘A wide wi-fi network is what customers want,’ Ziggo’s Harry de Haas told the Telegraaf. ‘Our network combined with that of UPC will provide wi-fi points throughout virtually the whole of the Netherlands.’
UPC will conduct w-fi point tests from July 1 to see how useful the combination is for customers.
The Dutch consumer authority ACM has no problem with the plan. ‘They are making innovative use of the possibilities which profit the consumer,’ a spokesman told the paper.
