Dutch children top the world well-being rankings yet again

The Netherlands has again topped a Unicef ranking of children’s well-being in the world’s 29 richest countries.

Finland, Iceland and Norway also sit at the top of the child well-being table, while four southern European countries – Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain – are placed in the bottom half.

The researchers looked at child development according to five different perspectives: material well-being, health and safety, education, behaviour and risks, and housing and environment.

Dutch children were ranked first in terms of material well-being, education and behaviour, but fifth for health and safety and fourth for housing and the environment, the report showed.

The research showed 95% of Dutch children are happy with their lives, with nearly 92% saying they find it easy to talk to their mothers and 81% to their fathers.
