The Dutch consumer authority Consumentenautoriteit has fined budget airline Ryanair €370,000 for breaking European airline rules on online ticket sales.
The Irish firm had failed to mention inclusive ticket prices on its website, consumers were unable to check their details to correct mistakes during the booking process, there was no email address for direct contact and the company’s customer service staff only speak English, which is not mentioned on the Dutch language website.
The authority said the site has now been adapted to include full ticket prices since summer 2012. In addition, the website mentions that the customer service department operates in English.
But Ryanair will face further fines of €240,000 each if it does not resolve the other two issues within three months, a spokeswoman told Nos.
The airline said later on Wednesday it would appeal against the ruling, which is ‘without foundation’ and full of mistakes, Nos said.
