Man to face no charges for stabbing burglar to death

A man from Voorthuizen will not face charges for stabbing a burglar to death last August, the public prosecution department said on Monday.

The man, and a woman, were both injured during the violent burglary at their home. The man was shot several times in the leg and the woman hit with a brick, news agency ANP said.

One of the burglars was then stabbed by the man and died soon afterwards. The public prosecution department said on Monday its investigation had concluded he acted out in self-defence.

Three suspects, a woman aged 28 and men aged 26 and 34, are in custody and will appear in court on March 19.
