Growth outside Europe boosts dairy group FrieslandCampina

Dutch dairy giant FrieslandCampina booked a 25% increase in net profit last year at €274m on record sales of over €10bn.

The sales increase was driven by growing demand for baby and toddler foods, as well as cheese and dairy drinks. FrieslandCampina includes Coolbest juices, Dutch Lady and Milner cheese.

Sales were up outside Europe but down in Europe itself as the economic crisis continued to bite. Asian countries now account for some 25% of sales, and growth was particularly strong in China, the company said in a statement.
