More younger men work part time

The percentage of men with a part-time job in the Netherlands has risen from 12% in 2001 to 17% last year, according to new figures from the national statistics office CBS.

Some 46% of men aged 25 and under now work part time, compared with 30% 11 years ago. The CBS does not give an explanation for the rise.
Despite an increase in part-time jobs, some 83% of the four million men in the Dutch workforce have a job of at least 35 hours a week, the CBS said.

Only around 18% of Dutch women work more than 35 hours a week.
