Dutch forestry commission to cut 200 out of 1,000 jobs

The forestry commission is to reduce its 1,000 strong workforce by some 20% because of budget cuts, the organisation said on Wednesday.

By 2014, the commission must raise 43% of its budget from its own resources, an increase of 10% on the current figure.
Staatsbosbeheer hopes to earn more money from the sale of wood as well as woodchips and grass for bio-energy generation.
The organisation manages some 260,000 hectares of land. The Dutch make around 150 million visits to forestry commission property every year.
