State-owned insurer worried for reputation, drops health plan

Insurance company ASR has withdrawn its new health insurance product Zorgeloos from the market after just one day, the Telegraaf reports.

The new health insurance policy allowed clients to insure themselves against the own-risk element in healthcare for €150. The own-risk payment next year will be €350, thus saving €200.
But ASR, in the hands of the Dutch government since the financial crisis, has decided the policy could damage its reputation and so dropped it the day after the launch.
Hundreds of people had already signed up and their applications will be honoured, the paper says.
