Winschoten arson suspects confess to police

Two people arrested in connection with a string of fires in the northern town of Winschoten have confessed to arson, police said on Thursday.

In some cases they started the fires together, in others they operated on an individual basis. In total, they set 11 fires in outhouses, five close to fences and one next to a conifer tree.
The 26-year-old man and his 25-year-old (ex) girlfriend were arrested earlier this month. They have been remanded in custody for 90 days and the police investigation is continuing.
