Job centres launch game to help with interviews

The state-run benefit agency and job centre organisation UWV has launched an online job interview game for youngsters with a poor education.

On the Dutch language site Expeditie Work players can improve their ability in five areas by playing a game. The abilities include writing a cv and making a network plan.
‘A lot of young people do not know where to start and are not aware of what they are good at or what they want to do,’ UWV director AndrĂ© Timmermans told Nos tv.
‘We are trying to reach them through the world in which they live,’ he said. ‘Hopefully youngsters who play the game will be better prepared for a job interview and find a job more quickly.
Youth unemployment is rising fast. Recent figures from the central statistics office CBS show 13% of youngsters between 15 and 25 without a job. A year ago, the figure was 10%.
