Haren suspects in court for viral party riot

The first group of suspects in the riots that broke out in Haren during a party that went viral on the internet are in court on Monday.

The riots occurred after several thousand youngsters turned up in the village last month after a girl’s 16th birthday party, announced on Facebook, went viral and became a mass hype.
Six of the 47 people arrested so far face a fast-track court in Groningen, accused of causing the worst damage of the night, the Telegraaf reports. The offences include looting and public disorder.
On Tuesday, a second group will be in court and on Wednesday a closed hearing will deal with 12 under-age youngsters.
